About Fidelity Freedom Funds®

Fidelity Freedom Funds® — An All–in–One
Retirement Option

Fidelity Freedom Funds are lifecycle funds, offering a diversified set of mutual funds in a single fund, with the added benefit of professional asset allocation.

Pioneers in Dynamic Lifecycle Investing

The first Freedom Funds debuted in October 1996, and through 14 years of multiple market cycles, including up and down markets, they have been time–tested.

Through it all, our commitment to investors has not changed: to provide a disciplined and well–diversified approach to saving and investing for retirement.

Asset Allocation Made Easier

Fidelity Freedom funds have an asset allocation mix among a diversified mix of Fidelity mutual funds that invest in domestic equity funds, international equity funds, bond funds and short-term funds. The Freedom Funds maintain an asset allocation strategy that becomes more conservative over time as the funds reach and go beyond their target date. Keep in mind that the investment risk of each Freedom Fund changes along with the allocation mix.

Why is it important to monitor asset allocation? Asset allocation accounts for the vast majority of the variability in long–term returns.1

Benefits of Freedom Funds

Fidelity is an excellent choice for an all–in–one fund option:

  • Experience — Fidelity was one of the first mutual fund firms to launch lifecycle fund options specifically designed to meet retirement needs. The funds reflect Fidelity’s best investment ideas and are managed by an experienced investment team.
  • Confidence — With Freedom Funds your asset allocation mix is always targeted to the fund’s target date, and it adjusts as the fund moves closer to the target date and beyond.1
  • Ease — Monitor one fund instead of several.

The funds are subject to the volatility of the financial markets, including equity and fixed income investments in the U.S. and abroad and may be subject to risks associated with investing in high yield, small cap and foreign securities. Principal invested is not guaranteed at any time, including at or after their target date.

Next Steps

Fidelity Freedom Funds are managed by Strategic Advisers, Inc., a registered investment advisor and a Fidelity Investments company.
