Employee Volunteerism is a long and proud tradition at Fidelity. We believe that companies have a real stake in, and responsibility toward, the communities where they conduct business.

Our community involvement is addressed in many forms, including Job Shadow Day, Corporate Volunteer Day, annual holiday fund and toy drives, and a variety of ongoing programs designed to foster volunteerism and team spirit. Fidelity volunteer opportunities are so diverse and so widespread that in 1998, the company launched its own volunteer web site to help better connect employees to their communities.

Volunteerism is on the rise in America, with more than 100 million Americans reporting that they volunteer an average of 4.2 hours weekly. Fidelity's employees are no exception. In 1999, Fidelity employees gave nearly 20,000 hours (more than 54 hours a day) to the community, participating in numerous projects that benefited many local non-profit organizations.
